Slumberdown collapse a bitter blow for Hawick - Moore

Borders MP Michael Moore has reacted with dismay to the news that Slumberdown in Hawick has gone into administration.

Mr Moore has been in contact with the firm to discuss the news and the future of the firm and its employees.

Commenting, Mr Moore said:

“Just as news of Peter Scott’s rescue was filtering through and lifting local spirits, the news of Slumberdown’s collapse will come as a bitter blow indeed. It is a cruel reminder of how perilous a financial situation the country faces, and the severe pressures local firms in the Borders are under.

“This is another heartbreak for Hawick and our first thoughts must be with the employees at this extremely difficult time. I will be working hard with the local agencies to ensure that employees get the support they need, and closely with the Administrators to see if there is a viable future for the firm.”
