PRESS RELEASE
Moore Encourages Borders Youth To Apply For New Funding
Michael Moore MP
17-Dec-2009
Local MP Michael Moore is encouraging people from the Borders aged between 12 and 25 to consider applying for new funding from ‘Youth Chex’, a project which gives panels of young people the opportunity to award funding to their peers.
For 2009/10 £67,000 has been made available for local youth groups in the Borders. Successful applications in the past have included discos, tuck shops, recycling projects, bands and skate/roller parks.
Applications must be made by young people, supported by an adult representative of an organisation or group who has access to that group’s bank account. This must be a business account which requires more than one signature.
Commenting, Mr Moore said:
Youth Chex is a fantastic scheme which gives young people in the Borders the opportunity to make choices that will impact directly on the range of facilities that are available in their local area.
I would encourage all of my constituents who think they might be eligible for these grants to consider making an application.
