Personal Assistant - Lesley Crozier

Lesley Crozier

Role: Lesley organises Michael's appointments in both Westminster and the constituency. Amongst her other responsibilities she acts as the contact point for the local media and liaises with the offices of Michael's Scottish Parliament colleagues and many other orgnaisations about constituency business.

Background: Lesley has worked in the constituency office since it opened in Galashiels in autumn 2001. Previously she worked in the Trading Standards Department of Scottish Borders Council. Before that she was with a chartered surveyor's practice in Edinburgh, after having worked for several years in the Estates department at Grampian Regional Council in Aberdeen.

Casework Assistant - Margaret Lundie

Margaret Lundie

Role: Margaret is responsible for handling casework enquiries from constituents on issues which affect their personal circumstances (e.g. taxation, child support, benefits, immigration, DVLA). She liaises directly with local organisations as necessary and organises the regular advice surgeries.

Background: Margaret has been part of the constituency team since 2004. Previously she was part of the administration team at Galashiels Academy and before that dealt with Councillors' casework enquiries in Glasgow.

Constituency Researcher and Caseworker - Alison Moore

Alison Moore

Role: Alison is responsible for handling constituents' enquiries about matters being considered in the House of Commons (e.g. digital switchover, fair trade, the Budget, the Iraq war, Private Members' Bills, 'Early Day Motions', WTO textiles matters, EU structural funds). She prepares background research papers in addition to dealing with the detailed enquiries.

Background: Alison joined the constituency team in 2006. For the previous two years she was a senior fund raiser with the charity 'Children 1st', based in Edinburgh. Before that she was a manager in the International Office of the Liberal Democrats in London, which followed a year working for Dr Evan Harris MP.

Parliamentary Researcher - Ben Stevenson

Ben Stevenson

Role: Ben is the only member of staff based in Westminster and is responsible for the preparation of Michael's portfolio work. This includes policy research, speech preparation and the tabling of parliamentary motions and questions. He also liaises with external bodies, lobby groups and party colleagues and responds to non-constituents' inquiries regarding Liberal Democrat policy.

Background: Ben joined the team in June 2006 following his graduation from the University of Hull. As part of his British Politics degree he also worked for Michael as an intern during the 2004-5 academic year.
